A little insight into the production.

Mit knapp sechs Kilo ist das oktaJon kein Leichtgewicht, was bei einer Größe von 52,5 mal 52,5 mal 32 Zentimetern und einer Wandstärke von zwölf Millimetern aber auch nicht weiter verwunderlich ist. Der Korpus ist aus neunlagigem Birkenschichtholz gebaut, die beiden Spielflächen (auch die Rückwand ist beim oktaJon eine Spielfläche) aus fünflagigem, gut drei Millimeter dicken Buchenschichtholz, welches an der Vorderseite schwarz lasiert wurde. Der rundum sorgfältig aufgebrachte Schellack verleiht dem Cajon einen seidigen Glanz und fasst sich auch sehr angenehm an. Auch leicht schwitzige Hände kleben und quietschen auf der Oberfläche nicht. Die vordere Spielfläche ist mit 24 brünierten Schrauben am Korpus befestigt, die hintere rundherum verleimt. Jede oktajon ist ein Unikat und wird von Hand in Deutschland gefertigt. Daher weist jedes Instrument Klangnuancen und eine absolut  eigene Klangcharakteristik auf. Schnell gleitet einem das Wort Bassteufel über die Lippen. Die OktaJon verfügt über einen ausgeprägten Tiefenbereich, der seine Macht ausspielt und diesem Beech Black Model Einzigartigkeit verleiht.
Wir kaufen unsere Multiplexplatten für den Korpus und das Holz für die Schlagpaltten nicht in Polen oder Tschechien, wir kaufen beim Händler vor Ort.
Eigens für uns wird das Material der Schlagplatten hergestellt.

At just under six kilograms, the oktaJon is not lightweight, which is not surprising given its size of 52.5 by 52.5 by 32 centimeters and a wall thickness of twelve millimeters. The body is made of nine-ply birch plywood, the two playing surfaces (the back wall is also a playing surface on the oktaJon) made of five-ply, three millimeter thick beech plywood, which was glazed black on the front. The shellac, carefully applied all around, gives the cajon a silky sheen and is also very pleasant to the touch. Even slightly sweaty hands do not stick or squeak on the surface. The front playing surface is attached to the body with 24 burnished screws, the rear one is glued all around. Each oktajon is unique and is made by hand in Germany. Therefore, every instrument has sound nuances and its own unique sound characteristics. The word Bassteufel quickly slips over your lips. The OktaJon has a pronounced depth range, which shows its power and gives this Beech Black Model uniqueness. We do not buy our multiplex panels for the corpus and the wood for the split panels in Poland or the Czech Republic, we buy from local dealers. The material of the striking plates is made especially for us.
